Fantastic inspiration. The story, the pictures, the diagrams, the details are all wonderful and inspiring. There is a sad overtone to the entire presentation though in know that days after John Allen’s death the entire work of art, his life’s work, burned to the ground. Seems the Gorre & Daphetid Railroad was a reality that was created by his pure strength of will, and with that will gone so was the world he created.
The railroad may be gone, but Allen’s influence is still felt today and will be felt for many years to come. A high bar was set by the operations, the design and the atmosphere of friendship and education. I just hope I, and others, can live up to it.
A thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring book.
