We all have a view of ourselves. That person we see in our mental mirror. It may be the present or the future us, but it is who we think ourselves to be and the one we have carrying out our actions. Maybe that is the true key to happiness – having who we are and who we think we are match up like twins. I don't know. But I can tell you that it is when we come face to face with the differences between our two selves that we suffer. When we realize our dreams and then face clearly the reality – when we chose our love and then fall into the hole that is the world's indifference. When we reach out to grasp the hand of the one we need only to find they have turned away.
It isn't the mirror that lies, it is the heart. And it keeps up that lie until telling us the truth will hurt the most.
