The West Model Train Collection

Yesterday I spent a good part of the day hanging out with what one person described as my “tribe”.  The tribe being that group of people who is interested in some of the same things I am. In this case it might have been a fairly eclectic tribe; those folks who are both in to British cars and trains. You see, yesterday members of The British Car Club of Charleston visited the home of member and model train collector Mike West.

Model Train Collection

Now I have known Mike for about thirty years, but it wasn’t until relatively recently that I discovered that he, like me, has a things for trains. He started on this hobby when he was just a kid back in the forties and still has some of his original model trains from back then.

Christmas Fun

Christmas ToysMy new desk is fast becoming a gathering spot for little toys. Seems the spirit of Christmas means time for fun. A dancing flower, musical slingshot reindeer and a happy winter candle holder are all just part of the fun. And let’s not even talk about the food …

New cars – very small ones

I was actually browsing the toys at our local grocery when I came across these new models. A Hot Wheels VW Scirocco, a Datsun 510 Bluebird, and a Matchbox Porsche 914. Actually I don’t know if they are really new, or just new to me.

I was able to hold myself back from buying them all only because they don’t fit into my British collection, but they were still cool! In the end though both Matchbox and Hot Wheels remained on the pegs and I stuck with buying necessities. Like Pop Tarts.

Another Tiny Treasure

I hate shopping at Wal-Mart. Even though my wife works there and so we get a discount, I just hate (cilantro? popcorn?) the place. But when I went today at least I found this cool TR6 Hot Wheels toy.

Some of you may think it is the same one I posted a few months ago. And while it is the same body casting, it is obviously a different paint scheme and different racing number. How could you not notice?!
