A lot of people like Hillary Clinton. My wife is one of them. But, I think that what you saw in the debates last night is a key insight into her character. She went on a mean spirited attack, and I think that is really what she is like. You, and I, may agree with many of her viewpoints and policies, but it is the nature of her personality that cause you pause. She is just not an agreeable person and it gives us pause to questions the real nature of her motivations.
Also, she said that you need to have experience to make the change that the US people want. But it was Albert Einstein who said, “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.” So, how can someone who has been in the system for over 35 years, who makes her living in the system, and who lives and dies by the system really be the instrument of that system’s change. I for one would rather give a try to someone with less experience. That also translates into less baggage, less favors owed, and less ties to special interest.
The Republicans, as might be expected, spent the evening mainly attacking Mitt Romney. No real surprises there or new revelations. The only striking thing is that they started talking about how they would campaign against Barack Obama instead of Hillary Clinton. Maybe they, like many others, are starting to see that she isn’t the shoe-in people thought she was.
